E Z Fletch review

I recently tested the Arizona E Z Fletch Mini, for carbon arrows, and fell in love with this device. I like it so much, I’m going to include it into my fall 2012 Hit List. After receiving the E Z Fletch, I chose to use some new Victory VAP arrows and some Goat Tuff Opti-Vanes (and glue) to put everything together.  I read the instructions that came with the E Z Fletch and they seemed simple enough, so I began the process. The E Z Fletch Mini weighs about 6 or 7 ounces and is roughly 7″ long. It has three “wings” that open up with provisions to hold an arrow vane in each wing. Once the vanes are installed and glue is applied to the vanes, an arrow shaft can be inserted in the middle of the E Z Fletch. A quick twist to the bottom housing and the wings close and grip the arrow shaft securing the vanes to the arrows. The top cap is applied to insure the vanes are held under pressure during the drying process.

The manufacturer suggested time to wait is 2-3 minutes to allow the glue to dry, so upon fulfilling that requirement, another quick twist (after removing the top cap) and the completed arrow assembly is finished!

If you were expecting a long and lengthy review, sorry, there’s no need for one because it really is that easy! All three vanes are fletched at the same time! Your arrows will even have right helical twisted vanes when finished. I even indexed my arrows during this process, so I’m one happy camper! If any of you want better performance from your arrows, try indexing and fletching them yourselves with this handy little device.

Feel free to watch the video below or visit Arizona E Z Flecth at: Arizona E Z Fletch . Retail price is in the vicinity of $45-$49.00. If you choose to purchase an Arizona E Z Fletch, I highly recommend the use of Goat Tuff high performance glues and their Opt-Vanes. The glue is probably the best on the market and their vanes are ideal for tight groupings and consistency. The Opt-Vanes are made with a material that is both firm and flexible, which I believe is a patented process. They also incorporate a soft, “U” shape glue receiver at the base of the vane that creates a suction and used with glue, really makes these vanes stick to the shaft like concrete. Vitit them at: Goat Tuff.

My little friend in the backyard

This little guy always comes out to see me in the backyard when I’m doing something. All I have to do is call like a Bard Owl, and he’ll sure to come to me in less than 5 minutes. Very neat!

Alpen Rainier model 77, 10×42 binoculars

If you’re in the market for a high-end set of binoculars, the Alpen Rainier model 77 10×42 may be what you’ve been looking for. These happen to be Alpen’s flagship binoculars, which carry the Rainier title.

These are built to withstand the elements and to perform in the most demanding of conditions. The body is made of magnesium and all air-to-surface glass areas are fully, multi-coated. Color and clarity are retained in addition to having great light capturing capabilities. They use the superior BAK-4 technology in these roof type prism binoculars.

My test binoculars weighed 29.4 ounces and came with a glass cleaning cloth, two straps, a set of instructions and one of the best warranties in the business. Let’s look at the specs:

HD – High definition, ED – Extra low dispersion optical system

Roof type prism, to keep compact in size

29.4 oz.

10 x  and 341 ft. per 100 yards

42 mm objective lens diameter

Exit pupil 4.2

BAK4 prisms

Magnesium body

Water proof, fog proof nitrogen filled and o-ring sealed.

Quick release strap

Lifetime warranty, no cards to fill out or receipt to have to save

Alpen designed these binoculars in the USA and manufacture them in Japan. They have been developed for ease of use, even if you use glasses, which can be troublesome with some other brands of binoculars. They have an A-Lock locking system that allows for faster focusing and saving of the chosen parameters. Their warranty is one of the best in the business! No warranty cards to fill out or reciepts to save, just call their toll free number if you have a problem, and they’ll take care of you, simple as that! Isn’t that a treat!

Every corner of these binoculars have been refined. They have some of the best glass, coatings, armor, clarity, light gathering capabilities, feel and warranty ever offered in optics. When purchasing a set of binoculars, make sure you pay special attention to the exit pupil size though! Even though the model 77 has superior light gathering capabilities with an exit pupil size of 4.2, you do have the option to drop down in magnification and increase the exit pupil size for even more light gathering! A human’s eye pupil expansion capability shrinks as they age, so always match what your eye is capable of receiving before making a decision on what exit pupil size to acquire.

Alpen offered them at around $1700.00 but now have an internet price of $1163.00 I have found them on the internet for as low as $850.00 while searching through Google.

As a side note, Vickie Garner, the founder of Alpen, has an interesting story how she became a hunter. She used to be a non-hunter, but later in life became interested in hunting and now is a full-fledged pursuant of North American game animals. Very cool! I’ll eventually be writing a story on her, as I think it is a very interesting one!

I give these binoculars a “Thumbs-up” in the higher-end classification of binoculars. Visit Alpen at Alpenoptics.com for more information.

Trail camera pictures starting to come in!

Here’s two different bucks caught on camera. Both are mature bucks that will most likely carry large racks this fall. Notice the one buck that’s missing his left side!!!

Fawns are among us!

I was driving through the country tonight with my daughter and we spotted this fawn hiding in the weeds. There’s no audio with this video, so don’t think your computer is broken :-)

Latest seminar

I’ll try to keep this updated, so stay tuned as I confirm them as they come in. My next seminar will be at the Wisconsin Deer Fest in Oshkosh on July 20-22 in the Winnebago County Fairgrounds. I’ll post the next seminar after this event is finished.

New marketing option for hunting manufacturers

Being a product tester and a hunting product user, it only makes sense for me to add this option. I’m now working with the major media outlets in promoting good products that are available to the hunting public. What that means is; if you’re a manufacturer of hunting products and I like the product, we can market it for you.

I have built up a reputation in this industry as being someone who loves to promote great products and to equally discredit the lousy stuff. Fortunately, I’ve only had to deal with a few rotten products in the past as most of them are good and worth mentioning. My network of professional acquaintances are willing to help promote great products through the largest of magazines, websites and other high traffic sources.

If you’re interested in promoting your products, contact me and we’ll discuss your product. You can contact me by the “Contact” link on this website, or by emailing me at : admin@nontypicalhunter.net
